Spray Paint

Spray painting is a painting technique where a device sprays a coating (paint, ink, varnish, etc.) through the air onto a surface. The most common types employ compressed gas—usually air—to atomize and direct the paint particles. Spray guns evolved from airbrushes, and the two are usually distinguished by their size and the size of the spray pattern they produce. Airbrushes are hand-held and used instead of a brush for detailed work such as photo retouching, painting nails or fine art. Air gun spraying uses equipment that is generally larger. It is typically used for covering large surfaces with an even coating of liquid. Spray guns can be either automated or hand-held and have interchangeable heads to allow for different spray patterns. Single color aerosol paint cans are portable and easy to store. There are mainly three types art styles which can be performed using spray cans.

Graffiti art:-

Graffiti, form of visual communication, usually illegal, involving the unauthorized marking of public space by an individual or group. Although the common image of graffiti is a stylistic symbol or phrase spray-painted on a wall by a member of a street gang, some graffiti is not gang-related. Graffiti can be understood as antisocial behaviour performed in order to gain attention or as a form of thrill seeking, but it also can be understood as an expressive art form.

Spray Painting :-

Spray paint, also known as aerosol paint, is paint that's stored in a pressurized container and dispensed using a valve to release a mixture of paint and a propellant, usually pressurized gas or compressed air. The result is a fine, even mist that is easily applied to a variety of surfaces. Spray painting is one of three primary methods for paint application besides using a paintbrush or a roller, and is generally quicker, cleaner, and easier to achieve a uniform coat.

Mural Art:-

mural is any piece of artwork painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other permanent surfaces. A distinguishing characteristic of mural painting is that the architectural elements of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into the picture.
Some wall paintings are painted on large canvases, which are then attached to the wall (e.g., with marouflage), but the technique has been in common use since the late 19th century.

Palette Knife for Spray Painting

These are the ways in which palette knives can be used for spray painting

We get a variety of palette knives and spatulas to add different textures and figures to our paintings. It can be used in different ways to obtain different effects. It creates lines and shapes almost magically when it is known how to be used properly. There are different sizes and shapes and its fun to experiment with those.

large palette knife
Large palette knives like this one can be used to make large shapes and portraits. another one of the best use is to paint snow mountains. Using this knife with very low pressure gives a very realistic effect of snow on a dark platform, as shown here.

Small ones are good for peaks like the castles on top of mountains so popular in spray paint art.
Palette knives
If you press down just right as you draw, you can make shadows and highlights at the same time. It does take some practice and knowing just where you want the light colors and dark colors to be.
It’s important to create many layers of color to get the nicest effects when carving the paint away. The paper you use can make a difference. Some paper absorbs the colors of the paint more and the result of carving reveals a slight tint. This tends to look better to my eye than bright white.

SPRAY PAINTING WITH PLASTIC

SPRAY PAINTING WITH PLASTIC

This is how we can use plastic to create paintings

Nowadays we get a variety of plastic in our surrounding, which can add different textures to our artwork. Plastic is obviously terrible for out environment, which should be stopped using.....but while its present we can put it to use in our work.

Plastics of different widths crumble in different manners, helping us to achieve different textures and patterns.

These are steps to add textures using plastic:-
  1. Add at least two layers of paint one over the other. Adding more layers will make it look more attractive.  Usually a dark colour over a light colour looks more attractive and bright.
  2.  Place a piece of crumbled plastic over the paint layers .Adjust the width of the plastic according to the required texture.
  3. Use thicker plastic for a pattern with large impressions and vice versa.
  4. Put pressure on the plastic ti create an impression. Applying preassure in defined directions help to create better patterns.

HOW TO SPRAY PAINT PLANETS AND UNIVERSE

Planets and Space Painting

HOW TO SPRAY PAINT PLANETS AND UNIVERSE

Planets and space painting can make us imagine as if we are in a different beautiful environment where anything is possible. We visualize a lot of beautiful and colourful abstract scenes  . Most of us already know that we can paint beautiful planets by using spray paint art techniques. The shadow and the highlight along with the texture make the difference between a planet that looks cartoon-like and one that could be in a fantasy universe.

The Mountains Behind Horizon

A shadow is generally a darker color and a highlight is generally a brighter color. However, like all rules, this one is also designed to be broken. But let’s start simple:-
Blue Planet
The Blue Planet
  1. Generally, shadows are darker, transparent colors. Black is the classic shadow but you can also use any transparent color as a secondary shadow. You would fade from blue to black for example. Or maybe purple to blue to black.
  2. A highlight is generally bright. It could be ivory, white, yellow or a brighter version of any color…pink for example.
  3. Often adding white and a transparent color on top makes a sophisticated highlight.
  4. Shadow and light doesn’t always go in the same place. Here is another example

Behind the mountain range, we can see a large blue planet with a shiny light ray behind the planet. This painting has been done on 5 separate canvases .It took somewhere half an hour to complete this painting, the hardest parts being separation of the upper and lower parts and handling the thick acrylic paint.
