HOW TO SPRAY PAINT PLANETS AND UNIVERSE

HOW TO SPRAY PAINT PLANETS AND UNIVERSE

Planets and space painting can make us imagine as if we are in a different beautiful environment where anything is possible. We visualize a lot of beautiful and colourful abstract scenes  . Most of us already know that we can paint beautiful planets by using spray paint art techniques. The shadow and the highlight along with the texture make the difference between a planet that looks cartoon-like and one that could be in a fantasy universe.

A shadow is generally a darker color and a highlight is generally a brighter color. However, like all rules, this one is also designed to be broken. But let’s start simple:-
Blue Planet
The Blue Planet
  1. Generally, shadows are darker, transparent colors. Black is the classic shadow but you can also use any transparent color as a secondary shadow. You would fade from blue to black for example. Or maybe purple to blue to black.
  2. A highlight is generally bright. It could be ivory, white, yellow or a brighter version of any color…pink for example.
  3. Often adding white and a transparent color on top makes a sophisticated highlight.
  4. Shadow and light doesn’t always go in the same place. Here is another example

THE BLUE PATH
THE BLUE PATH is an acrylic spray painting of a blue painting of a blue planet.

Behind the planet, we can see a ray of light passing horizontally.

In the base, we can see two large boulders , looking as if they point our view towards the planet.

Behind the planet is the bright blue ocean windy ocean with a white reflection through the centre.
THE MOUNTAINS BEHIND HORIZON

The Mountains Behind Horizon is a acrylic spray paint, depicting a range of mountains behind a vast sea. Behind the mountain range, we can see a large blue planet with a shiny light ray behind the planet. This painting has been done on 5 separate canvases .It took somewhere half an hour to complete this painting, the hardest parts being separation of the upper and lower parts and handling the thick acrylic paint.
